Music is one of those things that I just need. It can psyche me up for something I need to do, speak to me when I’m feeling blue, or just be the reason that I get to loudly sing along when nobody else is around. Music is just one of those things I need just about every day.
I’m thrilled that almost everyone in my household also loves music. Well, that’s not true. Everyone loves music, it’s just that one of the family members likes it in my much more low-key setting and is more particular about it.
One of the things that I really love is when we all of the sudden break into an impromptu dance party, which we’ve enjoyed for quite some time now. All it takes sometimes is the mention of a song (or something that reminds me of a song) for me to grab my iPhone and pop it onto my Soundfreaq speaker (which was a fabulous investment) for instant living room dance party.
Sure, Noah may decide that he’d rather head off to another room, and Eric may be a little more reserved with his dancing than the rest of us, but it’s just always a time of joy and silliness. There is something pure and wonderful about just enjoying the music, showing off our smoothest moves (or, most idiotic, sometimes), and taking some time to drop everything else for fun with some of my favorite people.
