Mom Failure of the Week:
I checked on when Molly’s ballet class started back up multiple times over the break. Seriously – I’m talking three or four times. Each time, I thought it said that classes at the ballet school resumed on January 19th. When she went back to class this week, one of her friends said she was so glad to see she was back.
Yep – I got the day wrong. The school started classes again on the 14th, not the 19th. So, she missed her class last week because I can’t read, apparently.
Thankfully, she was (mostly) very gracious about my error.

I’m getting closer to 8,000 followers on Pinterest! If you’re not following me (or just some of my boards) over there and you’re on Pinterest, check out what I’m pinning.
If you’re on Pinterest, feel free to leave your link in the comments and I’ll go check it out.
For those on Pinterest:
When you follow people on Pinterest, do you tend to follow all of their boards or just go through their boards to pick and choose? (I’m a pick and chooser for the most part, though I also have lots of people that I follow all on.)

I don’t know if it’s the weather or my sinuses or something else, but I have been so tired lately. Even after I get a full night’s sleep, I still sometimes want to take a nap during the day. Even good old caffeine is having a hard time getting me through the days.
Maybe it’s also time to grab out my light and ion therapy light a little more too though.

Know what else I want to do besides just use the therapy light?
I feel like I would like to take a bath in lotion. Sure, it would get pretty darn messy. Yeah, it would probably be pretty gross. But, my skin is so dry that it’s ridiculous.
This is actually the first time that I’ve ever noticed our humidity gauge in our house get into the “Dry” zone. We live in the Midwest, so I’ve seen more than my fair share in the “Humid” zone, but even during the winter, it usually stays within what it deems to be the “Comfort Zone.”
For now, I’ll just keep sniffling and getting paper cuts from just looking at a stack of paper.

I shared a printable that I made this week over at Catholic Mothers Online with 10 Activities for Catholic Families in February:
It was only while I was making this printable that I noticed how early Ash Wednesday is! Whew – that’s coming up soon!

Earlier this week, Jack purposefully announced which problem number he was on in his Teaching Textbooks along with a “WooHoo!” Now, this, on it own, would not be a big deal. But, it came just minutes after Noah talked about how he was struggling through his lesson.
I shot a disapproving look at Jack. “Why do you have to do those kinds of things, Jack? It’s just not nice,” I admonished. Because, well, as much as he has improved in that kind of area in the last couple of years, he does have a natural tendency to say things that might make others feel bad about things they are doing.
Jack began to cry and said, “It’s because I’m just a big jerk!” along with some dramatic gestures, as he sometimes has habit to do.
Now, I would not normally share this on the blog, but it’s because of what happened next that I couldn’t help but share. It just so happened that just about that moment, Noah hit enter to submit an answer on Teaching Textbooks to which the program replied, “That’s right.”
Put that together and here’s what went down…
“It’s because I’m just a big jerk!” laments Jack.
“That’s right,” responds the computer.
There was silence for a moment before we all burst out laughing. Now, we’ve been walking around all week saying, “That’s right” with the same cadence as the computer program.

A special congratulations this week goes out to my niece, Gabby, who is graduating from Air Force Basic Training! We’re so proud of the hard work that she, undoubtedly, has had to do over the past two months.

Haha you need to patent that bath in lotion; it sounds inspired.
As far as Pinterest goes; I’m a huge perfectionist so I don’t really follow people because I feel like my boards aren’t that nice
I need to get past that hangup and realize nobody cares.

I guess you could simmer water on the stove (maybe with cinnamon and vanilla–I call it fake baking) to increase the humidity a bit in your home.
Or, like me, you could start a pot of water boiling to make tea, leave the room, and forget about it until several minutes later when a child yells, “Mom! There’s a pot on the stove that’s *dancing*!” Sigh…Yes, I *have* to set a timer if I leave the kitchen.
I usually choose “Follow All” when I follow someone on Pinterest, unless I see right off the bat that I’m not going to want to see some of the boards they have (political, etc.). If I start seeing things they pin that I don’t agree with, I unfollow those boards as needed.

I have kept dry skin away by using St. Ives body wash. We started using it last spring and I noticed I wasn’t as dry as I usually am this winter. Someone gave me goat milk soap for Christmas and I used it for 10 days and I was miserable. Switched back to the St. Ives and within a few days my skin was back to normal.
Oh, your Blog name is so similar to mine! I’m so excited I found yours! I love #2… I’m a Montessori Teacher Assistant (and homeschool grad!) and Pinterest has always been a great resource.
I am a Midwest girl, and I hear you on the bath in lotion dream! My skin is dry even in the summer so I am just scaly in the winter. I’ve recently started using coconut oil on my face and then shea butter elsewhere, and they have been great! I still dry out, but after a much longer period of time than before. Thank you for the printable! I will be using it
Yeah, I get severely dry skin on my hands in the winter. I use a hard lotion made from beeswax, shea butter, and coconut oil. It works really well! http://www.hardlotion.com/
LOL about the Teaching Textbooks thing. That had to be funny.
I usually follow all. However, I recently noticed on my follow page that I have no idea who some of the people are. LOL!
