7 Quick Takes: December 30, 2011 (Vol. 106)

~ 1 ~

In the week that has passed since my last 7 Quick Takes, I feel so different.  Just so much older.

Okay, not really.  I mean, I don’t feel older, but I most definitely am older than I was when I wrote it last week.

Hello, 35!  As a number, you sound nicer to me than 34.  I think I’ll keep you.  (For a year, anyway.)

A couple of awesome ebook deals that I wanted to pass along…

Simple Mom’s book One Bite at a Time: 52 Projects for Making Life Simpler is one sale through January 10th (just the PDF version).  Just use the code HAPPYNEWYEAR at the checkout for an extra dollar off the price (from $5 down to $4).  This is a great book for helping you get things in order in 2012!  (You can read my post about One Bite at a Time: 52 Projects for Making Life Simpler here.  Oh, and did you know that I’m one of eight contributing writers to it too?)

If you’re a homeschooler who is trying to get organized, Homeschool Creations’ downloadable, editable Weekly Homeschool Planner on sale now through December 31st!  The normal price is $20, but with the code ORGANIZE12, you can download it for just $12.  (You can read my review of the homeschooler planner here.)

Last year on my birthday, we went to see the movie Tangled in the movie theater.  We have watched it several times since then.  And, since my birthday was coming up this week, we decided that we had to watch it again earlier this week.  I just love that movie so much.  (It makes me want to have a Tangled themed birthday party for Molly sometime.)

This movie also pushed me into having to do some pin collecting/trading when we were at Disney World.  I just couldn’t resist it after I kept looking at that darn set of Tangled pins.  This movie may also push me into seeing my first 3D movie.  I was already considering seeing Beauty and the Beast in 3D when it comes out in January, but now that I learned that there will be a short movie called Tangled Ever After right before it, I really might have to go!

Know what else I love that I got to wear for the first time this past week?  My socks from Little Miss Matched!

These would be the kinds of things that would make them want to punch me if I was ever on the show What Not to Wear, but I don’t care.  They’re cute and they make me happy.  (And who is really looking at them anyway, right?  They’re under my jeans.)

If you’re not familiar with Little Miss Matched, the socks come in sets of three, with all three being different but similar.  Crazy cute!

(Yes, I also got these while I was in Disney World.  What didn’t I buy while I was there, right?)

Is it really almost the end of 2011?  It just seems crazy.  It’s like the year is a blur.  It doesn’t seem like it went quickly, but it’s like I just can’t quite properly place everything that happened this year.  I had a hard time when I was putting together our Christmas letter.  (Which I did as an infographic instead, which I thought would be cool.  Of course, since I didn’t hear from anyone about it, I’m not sure that it was as cool as I hoped.  Oh well!)

It seems like years and years since some things happened, but then I remember that they were only in the first part of this year.  Here’s hoping that 2012 is happy, successful, and peaceful.

Do you know what is probably not a good sign, in general?  It’s when you Google something because you really think you need help with a particular topic.  You feel pretty lost about it, and you’re hoping for some wonderful wisdom.  And then, you’re met with your own blog on the first page of Google.

Sheesh.  Yeah, that was a lot of help.  (Thankfully, there were other solutions as well.)

Is it just me or does anyone else have this iPod issue:  Sometimes, I just know that I had a song on my iPod, but then later, it’s not there anymore.  What’s up with that?

This post is linked to 7 Quick Takes.  This post also contains a couple of affiliate links.  Buying through affiliate links doesn’t cost you anything extra, but it does help support this site.  Thanks!

  1. I love wearing goofy socks, too! It makes my husband and three boys just roll their eyes. I’ll have to check out “Little Miss Matched.” Happy Birthday, and Happy New Year! P.S. I had a birthday this past week, too, but it’s been nearly a decade since I’ve seen the number 35… ;)

  2. LOL on number 6. I haven’t had that happen, but it is interesting to read what search terms have brought other people to my blog. The eeriest one has to be the full name of one of my friends. It is from a comment she left… and she’s not a blogger.

  3. Hey Tangled is our family’s favorite too! And here’s an official Happy Birthday :) because I missed posting it on your wall ;)

That is a rough problem to have, showing up on Google’s first page. I feel your pain, haha :) Maybe someday I can relate.

    • Thanks for the birthday wish. :) It was a really nice day.

LOL about the Google comment. Oh, and speaking of traffic though, I hope that you saw some Facebook traffic on your blog the other day. I put a link to your snowman coloring page on my homeschool blog’s Facebook page.

      • That was you?! Thanks! I was wondering where that spike came :)

        • Yeah, that was me. :) So, definitely give me heads up when you have that kind of stuff on there again, in case I miss it. (I shared it with one of my Facebook pages that has 5400+ fans.) I meant to tell you so that you wouldn’t just think it was something weird.
