Show Your Appreciation for Special Friendships

in arts and crafts, gifts, life as an artist

I feel like I have been really blessed with wonderful friendships during my life.  Some of those have been friends I have made, and some of those are friends who are also family members.

I love it when I can do a little something for some of those special friends that let them know how important they are in my life.  This may be taking a meal when a baby is born or a surgery has happened.  It may be doing some design work for them online.  It might just dropping them a little note to say I’m thinking of them.

One of my favorites that I did once was during a time when I had been having a hard time with a lot of things.  When one thing was particularly difficult to cope with, my friend Amanda didn’t even know everything that was happening, but when she saw me, she just hugged me for a really long time.  Without knowing what was happening, she just knew that was exactly what I needed.

So, when I went on a crafting weekend, I made a mixed media painting for her.  It reads, “A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words.”  Not only did she love it, but it just fills my heart with happiness every time I’m in her house and see it there.  (She was nice enough to let me recently scan it for my Etsy shop.  Now, that’s an extra nice friend, huh?)

What are some of your favorite ways to let the people in your life know how much you appreciate them?

I enjoy sending people ecards just because – if they have a special day even just making a successful recipe or finishing a word count after a day of writing. Nice blog.

Friends like that are a blessing. A BIG blessing. God has put His arms around me so many times in the form of a friend and I really believe it’s one of the greatest gifts He gives us. As someone I know says it, “God with skin on.”

I’m going to have to go check out your Etsy shop now. Your artwork is lovely.

(I hopped over here from the link-up at last year’s Ultimate Blog Party! Have a beautifully blessed day!)

@Natalie at Mommy on Fire,

$10 says that if you came over, I could get you to make something like this.

I actually had a class one night with some gals from my homeschooling group, and it was a hoot. Everyone made beautiful paintings.

@Natalie at Mommy on Fire,

It is icy! It’s nice that they finally came and plowed though. (You certainly wouldn’t want to walk over right now! Brrr!)

I’m not planning to do another class anytime soon, but you know we can just get together and do it sometime. Or, maybe that’s a sign that I should do a class again. It was fun when I did it before.
