Helpful Homeschool Hints: New Blog Hop/Meme/Whatever

in homeschooling

Helpful Homeschool Hints

There seems to be some disagreement around the Internet about what things like Top Ten Tuesday and 7 Quick Takes are called.  Are they blog hops?  Are they memes?  (And if they’re memes – does it rhyme with deem or hem?)

Either way around it, I am going to put together a weekly homeschooling link up where you can share a post from your blog that relates to homeschooling.  Almost like a Works for Me Wednesday, but for homeschooling. You can share a tip that helps you through your homeschooling day, the curriculum that you’re currently using, a great science experiment, how you are integrating cooking into your day, a review of a homeschool product (or just something that might be of interest to homeschoolers), an especially great field trip idea, how to not lose your mind, whatever!  It should just be something that might help another homeschooler – even if it’s just with the fact that they’ll be able to find a kindred spirit.

While this meme will officially be a Thursday post, I’ll post a linky on Wednesday nights (late), and you can link up to a specific post.  (You can even pick an older post, as long as you add in a link to Helpful Homeschool Hints in your post.)

So, make sure to stop by again on on Wednesday night (the 17th)/Thursday morning (the 18th) (right around midnight EST) to link up a favorite homeschooling post.  Then stick around and visit other links to make new friends and gather new ideas!

(Feel free to grab the graphic above and share this on your blog so your homeschooling blogger friends can be ready too.)

I always thought meme was pronounced just the way it looks – me-me. Because it’s all about ME-ME-ME!

Is that not correct?

@Deb,

I can’t say that I’ve seen that pronunciation before. Everywhere I have found and people I have talked to at conferences, it is always between the two pronunciations I listed. It is all about “me” though, isn’t it? Maybe it should be like Mimi then. ;)

Sounds like fun! I’ve heard me-me, like Deb said. I always say “mem” (like “hem”) in my head, though…and generally avoid saying it aloud in order to avoid the whole pronunciation issue. ;-)

That sounds like fun! I pronounce it like “hem”, I never thought there was another way to pronounce it. LOL!

At Bloggy Boot Camp, Scary Mommy told us it was pronounced like ‘dream’ … meem.

I’m looking forward to linking up and learning!

Thanks for this! I am actually getting back to homeschooling my kids again (beginning tomorrow) after an ill-fated semester in public school on our army post. I’ll need all the help I can get!

I’m looking for a homeschool blog hop…Thursdays would be perfect for me since I don’t have a regular post for Thursdays on my blog.
My plan was just to share some of what my daughter and I have done over the past week. Also, share links to a squidoo lens I have relating to homeschooling each week.
My question is….is this acceptable? I plan my first post to be more along the lines of an introducing one more than anything else.
I look forward to hear back from you. Thanks!

@Marsha Seiberling,

It sounds like it should be just fine, Marsha. :) Anything that you think might be something that could help someone else.

The latest edition will be up late tonight/early tomorrow morning.
