A few days ago, we had a wonderful time with our new friend, Leo. Here is what I shared about Leo in the Etsy shop listing to adopt him and take him home:
Leo can be quite a handful, but he is full of love for you or that special someone. He is very adventurous. We tried hard to get a picture of him, but he kept insisting that he try some other backyard activity. From climbing trees to playing on play equipment to jumping in leaves — he was all over the place. Don’t be fooled by all that high energy though, Leo is sweet at heart and even helped us rake leaves. He was finally so tired out that he let us take his picture, but insisted he had to be climbing on a fence. Fair enough, Leo.
(When Leo was in the tree, he kept saying he was “bothered.” I think this means that he’s been sneaking out at night watching Jimmy Fallon.)
Leo started out life as a Baby Gap sweater that was left at a second hand store. We brought him home, loved him, and named him Leo. He’s pretty agreeable though, so if you want to adopt him and love him, it’s okay with Leo if you change his name. (Even if it’s a girl’s name.)
Leo’s eyes and mouth were made with eco-fi felt and were hand stitched on using DMC floss. He’s filled with Polyester Fiberfill, plus lots of love.
Leo should only be spot cleaned. Because he has some hand stitching, he is probably best to not be with very small children.
Leo is approximately 8 inches across, and approximately 9 inches from tip of his ears (or are those horns?) to his bottom.
Want to see all the fun we had with Leo?
As soon as we got outside, Leo insisted he had to jump in the leaves. He really kind of made a mess. He can be a handful like that.
But, he is a nice monster, so he worked on cleaning up some of that backyard mess. It was hard with no arms, but he has seen Veggie Tales pick up things with no arms, so he decided to give it a go.
Leo climbed up one of our trees afterward. We told him to be careful, but that’s when he kept doing his Jimmy Fallon impression. (Well, I guess it was Leo’s impression of Jimmy Fallon’s impression of Robert Pattinson.) Anyway, he thought he was a hoot.
“Hey now, Leo! This is not funny, young man monster! You come down this instant. That’s way too high in a tree for a little monster such as yourself!”
“Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!”
Leo was dreaming of the Olympics. He found that his ears/horns made a nice thing to grip onto the rings with. Way to be inventive, Leo!
Molly wanted Leo to swing with her for a little while. She decided that she owed that to him. Hang on…why was it that she owed him something?
Oh yeah — that’s right! She stole the arms to that Baby Gap sweater right out of my craft room and started wearing them around like leg warmers!
If Leo doesn’t find a new home before Christmas (his adoption is a nice reasonable price – only $12), he might just end up under our tree. For whatever reason, my kids think every homemade thing needs to stay in our home.

How cute is he? Leo reminds me of a home ec project named Sharkey that my older brother made when I was 5. I think they have the same eyes.
