Many Little Links: August 1, 2010

in great links

I really should be working on planning out our school year right now.  Instead, here I am writing about some links that I enjoyed this week.  At this rate, we might not start our new school year until October!  Oh well, at least we can all enjoy some fun links, right?

DIY Play Kitchen How-To! - Create
Hokey Smokes – this is cute!  I not only love the project (great way to repurpose old furniture), but I love the colors too!

Home Ec – Freckled Nest
This is the registration to an online sewing class that I am considering taking.  I might be too scared to do it though.  What if I make only half way through one project?  Eric says, “If that’s what you think, then that’s what will happen.”  Darn that guy and his logical thinking.

A Party in Wonderland and Back to Wonderland – Let’s Explore
I’ll admit it – I don’t actually like Alice in Wonderland.  However, this party idea is just about the cutest ever.

What are You Doing? – Eclipsed
A great set of tips on how Kris has lost so much weight since starting her weight loss journey the week of Thanksgiving 2009.

2011 Savvy Blogging Summit Dates and Location
A write up by the Savvy Blogging team as they announced both the dates and location of the 2011 conference.  It looks exciting, though I have to admit that I am less than excited about it being so far away again (though I understand their reasoning for it). Road trip, anyone?

Crazy Stuff I’ve Done as a Blogger, and What I’ve Learned From It – ProBlogger
A guest posting that most bloggers would enjoy looking through and will probably be shaking their head “yes” for at least some of the things.

Thanks for the linky love. And, yeah, I wasn’t too impressed with the next Savvy Summit location either. At least I have some time to start saving. Wonder if I’m considered an alumni since I was accepted, but didn’t get to go — so I wouldn’t have to resubmit an application. I doubt it.

@Kris @ WUHS and Eclipsed,

Kris – If we lived closer (or one of us was on the way from the other), I would say we could road trip it. (For me, even staying one night in a hotel on the way would be cheaper than flying.)

I hate to say it, but I would guess that you’re not an alumni. You know, just in the same way that getting accepted into a college and not going there doesn’t make you an alumni. However, I’m sure you’d get in. Maybe you could talk to them about it.

That sewing class looks like a really good one. It made me want to sign up, but I already sew! :) If you were closer I would offer to help you with anything you get stuck on, but since I’m about two hours from Colorado Springs, I’m guessing you aren’t that close. I’m not remembering now where you live if you have even said (Monday brain fog). In any case, the class looks really comprehensive and the projects look like useful ones – things that you might make again. However, if you want to start with something less (and free), I had signed up for an email class with Valerie at Frugal Family Fun and still have the emails from her if you would like me to forward them to you. I had signed up and was keeping them in case my daughter wanted to go through them. The little course may still be available on her site, too.

@Sheila,

That is so sweet of you! Sadly, it would take me either an airplane or a whole lot of driving to pop by your house. Thankfully, I do have my Mom in my neighborhood though, so if I sign up for the course, I can say, “Hey Mom — what am I doing?” ;)
