My Savvy Blogging Summit Trip

in blogging

As if things weren’t crazy enough around my house with my Mom’s open heart surgery, one of my sisters came to stay with my parents, and I headed off to Colorado for the Savvy Blogging Summit last week.

Before I continue on with a little about my trip, I must add a very, very special thank you to wonderful Catholic online store, Catholic Child, for sponsoring me for this amazing conference.  Be sure to visit their site, and you can also follow them on Twitter at @Catholic_Child.

This trip was just amazing!  Well, hang on — I take that back.  The trip itself was not amazing.  I hadn’t flown in 14 years, and I did not enjoy that part at all.  Plus, with a lengthy drive to our airport, as well as a two hour shuttle from the Denver airport to Breckenridge, each travel day was very long.  However, it was definitely worth the long trip!

Wow!  Look at that view!  Isn’t it just breath taking?  You know what?  At an elevation of 10,000 feet, it really is literally breath taking.  The first day of the conference seemed to be pretty difficult on just about everyone.  From headaches to shortness of breath to trying to hydrate so much that we were making beelines for the bathroom after every speaker, Breckenridge was a pretty but challenging location.  After the first day though, it seemed that many of us were doing a lot better (as long as we avoided the stairs).

So, enough with the whining about breathing.  Who can worry about little things like oxygen when you are surrounded by so many wonderful bloggers?  Not only was it a pleasure to see many old friends, but it was amazing to get a chance to meet so many new friends.

Every time I had a meal with my girls here (Connie from Smockity Frocks, Nony from A Slob Comes Clean, Lauren from Mama’s Laundry Talk, and Amy from Raising Arrows), things were sure to be funny.  Sure, we learned a lot too, but after having had a stressful couple of weeks, it was great to have a chance to laugh a lot too.  (It was amazing to be roomies with Lauren.  She is so sweet and sincere, and I could listen to her Southern accent forever.)

Here are some other friends (both old and new):

Tara from Feels Like Home

Megan from Half Pint House (her posts about Savvy Blogging Summit have been hilarious) and Joy from Five J’s

Jennifer from The Coupon Mommie and Robin from Pink Coupon Cafe

I can’t believe how much I learned this weekend, as well as how willing everyone was to help each other.  It was just amazing, and made me feel so lucky to be a blogger in such a wonderful community.

Everyone was busy learning!

There were a lot of amazing sponsors for the actual Savvy Blogging Summit event.  They were all so kind and ready to help each of us with our blogs.  A special shout out to Grace from Lijit for taking a lot of time to help me get search set up on not one site, but four.  (Thanks Grace!)

Do you know what else was fun?  Eating hot meals that I didn’t have to prepare (or dish up for anyone else).

I must admit that I still feel a little bit like my head might explode from all of the great ideas and information that I got this weekend at Savvy Blogging Summit.  Thanks so much to the Savvy Blogging Team for putting on such an awesome event.  I just hope that I manage to actually apply some of the fabulous tips that I came home with.

Thank you also so much to everyone that I got to spend time with this weekend.  Even if I didn’t link to you, it’s only because I didn’t have a picture, not because I didn’t thoroughly enjoy visiting with you.

Thanks to Stephanie and Taya for giving me a whole new word to add to my vocabulary, I can now say without a doubt that Savvy Blogging Summit was truly skookum!

This post is linked to Works for Me Wednesday, because going to this conference definitely worked for me!

So jealous! I went to a blogging conference a few months ago but it wasn’t mainly ladies and didn’t have food like that! :)
