Nine years ago today, I went in for a doctor’s appointment in my ninth month of pregnancy, and my doctor declared that she didn’t want me walking around so dilated and effaced, so did I want to have the baby that day or the next?  That day it was, and about seven hours later, Jack was born.

Happy birthday, Jack!

I wrote all about Jack last year on his birthday, so this year, I’ll just link back to that piece instead – “How Do I Sum Up Eight Years in Just One Blog Post?

Both of the boys are in 4-H for the first time this year.

I had a major Mommy fail on Monday of this week when we missed turning in our first projects of the week for judging.  Although I had set two alarms to make sure I was up, my cell phone just magically turned itself off during the night (it does that every so often, but never at night) and then one of the smaller members of our household likely turned the volume all the way down on my alarm clock.  So, we missed turning one project for each of the boys.  I cried like a baby, because it was apparently the proverbial straw that broke the camel’s back.  (The kids all earned blue ribbons in compassion when I broke down, as far as I’m concerned.)

However, later in the week, we managed to make all of the rest of our project turn in times.  Noah turned in two projects and received two blue ribbons.  Jack turned in three more projects and received blue ribbons in all three.  He also got champion in one and reserve champion in another.

The boys seemed ready to skip out on 4-H after the beginning of this week, but after the great ending to the week, I think they’re hooked.

I have so much work to do on my blogs post Savvy Blogging Summit.  I really need to just sit down and make a list of everything I want to work on.  It’s perhaps not a good sign that I can’t even sit down and write out that list, huh?

One of my new favorite reads is Catalog Living, which is a hilarious look at the life of a couple, Elaine and Gary, who live in the house that is depicted in all of those up scale catalogs like Pottery Barn.  Okay, so maybe they don’t really live there, but if you haven’t read Catalog Living, definitely go check it out.

After we turned in 4-H projects one morning this week, we went out to breakfast while waiting to go back for project judging.  Before heading back, I declared that everyone should go to the bathroom.  So, the boys went in (with all of the specific instructions I always seem to give them) and Molly and I went into the ladies room.

Molly and I finished and the boys weren’t coming out.  I was about to crack open the door and call to them when I heard Jack’s voice.  Finally, they came out and told me about their bathroom adventure.

It would seem that they went into a stall together and couldn’t get the door unlocked.  So, they had to crawl out under the door.  Apparently the look on my face must have spoken volumes, because Jack assured me, “Don’t worry – we washed our hands.”

Sure, they may have washed their hands, but when are we going to burn those clothes?  (Noah informed me he had to crawl on his belly to get out.  Blech.)

I pretty desperately still need to plan for next school year.  Despite the lack of planning, we’ve still managed to do two weeks of school during the summer.  I think that by last year at this time, I had done a ton of planning.  Oh well — it will all come together, I’m sure.

Did you know that it’s really inexpensive to advertise your blog or business on all three of my blogs?  Well, it is.  Plus, maybe (just maybe) I totally blanked on a seventh thing to say.  You know, theoretically, it could happen.

I quickly hopped over to Catalog Living – that’s hilarious. I’ll definitely be reading that one for a smile each day. I feel much, much better about my completely non-catalog looking house now.

I can’t decide if the bathroom story is funny or blech? Maybe a bit of both?

Have a great weekend Angie!

I need to plan too. I have the basics covered, but not a schedule and some electives are still up in the air. But I’m going to procrastinate for a bit longer :)

Angie,
I’ve been missing reading blogs and I’m so glad I stopped over to read your 7 Quick Takes. I’ve been wanting to find a 4H for my kids—I even contemplated starting our own this year but I’m clearly not up for the task. Maybe next year?

Have to check out Catalog Living….

And girl, don’t get me started on the homeschool planning. I did take 2 1/2 days to plan but it wasn’t nearly enough. YIKES!
