As I have already mentioned, this week found me processing through 17 pounds of strawberries. Can you believe that it won’t be too long before we have to take the next container of strawberry jam out of the freezer?
Apparently I felt that I hadn’t been working on preserving enough food this week, so on Thursday, I put together several jars of bread and butter pickles for the refrigerator. I can’t wait until they are ready to be coupled with a tuna sandwich. Yum!

Last weekend, we didn’t have any Netflix movies at our house due to a variety of circumstances. (Weekends are usually our time to watch a movie or two through Netflix.) I just love now that we can get some Netflix movies through our Wii. Love it!
We watched the movies Outsourced and Arranged. We really enjoyed both of these movies! I enjoyed Arranged so much, apparently, that I didn’t even multitask while we watched it, which is what I usually do.
What was the last really good movie that you watched?

I’m trying not to want one of these, but I keep thinking that I want one of the Flip Ultra HD cameras.
My reasoning is probably silly, but besides just being able to shoot some movies of the kids, I want the kids to be able to use it to make their own movies. I’ve been trying to find ways for them to be a little more creative and this seems like such a fun way. Plus, they already make hilarious movies with Jack’s iPod Nano. I’d love to be able to enjoy them on the television instead.
One of my personal favorite movies they made involved Jack loudly shouting into the lens, “I’m an idiot.” Hmmm…perhaps you’d have to see the whole movie. You’ll just have to trust me on this — it is a classic.

We have started discussing about limiting video game/computer time for the kids. And, to be fair, I would limit my computer time during the day as well. We’re trying to come up with a plan, and some of the kids are none too happy about it. Oh well, parenting isn’t a popularity contest, is it?
Do you limit your children’s computer or video game time? Do you have a particular method for keeping track of time spent?

We haven’t started our 4-H projects at all. Not even a little bit. I have begun to fear that our first year of 4-H might be a bust. I guess we just have to bite the bullet and start it.
Wish me luck! (I think I’m intimidated by the books and knowing what to do. I might try to get some 4-H friend to sit down with me to make sure we’ve got it all right.)

After a hiatus, we’re back to reading a novel aloud each night. Continuing in the series, we’ve started book seven of the Little House set – Little Town on the Prairie. The kids were excited to hear the story, and I have been happy to get back into our old routine.
One of the things that I liked the best, however, was that Eric shared that he had been thinking of hearing the next chapter off and on all day, and was looking forward to it. I just love that man.
I have just barely started to work on my relaunching of my Etsy shop – Just a Tiny Owl. It has a different name than before (I’ll share the story behind the name at another time), and I only have one thing in it right now. Just had to see if I even remembered how to list things.
If you want to stop by and see it, go take a peek. I really need to work on adding more things though.

Don’t laugh but the last good movie I saw in a theater was Little Miss Sunshine. Now, there certainly was language in there and some inappropriate content and that family wasn’t perfect, but they had each other and they loved each other and that meant so much to me. Because who else will you turn to in your hour of need on this earth after God? Your family.
You should watch the documentary, “Face!” (Link below) It’s all about how we physically and emotionally need to see the facial expressions of others! Made ME want to cut down on computer time; a feat in itself! LOL

We do limit computer time. We set the microwave timer for a set amount of time, when it goes off their time is done. The next person may use it for their allotted time then or wait to use their time later. We also limit TV time now too. I found it helps us actually get more done in our days, enjoy nature more & we use our time with both of these more wisely if it’s limited.

I adored that movie “Arranged”! Really surprised because I’d never heard of it. Last movie we saw in the theater was the new Shrek 3D one. I didn’t want to see it but it was ok (just ok mind you.) I love canning but haven’t done it in awhile. Keep missing the picking times for crops due to someone or another being sick! Hopefully peaches…

We limited video games to Saturday mornings only. The catch for that is, all chores must be completed through the week without telling or re-telling.
We usually only watch T.V. on the weekends because all we have is Netflix and our own personal collection of DVD’s.
The computer is not used much by anyone but me and I try to cut way back on using it. I wouldn’t be setting a good example if I was on here all day and the kids were limited.
Good luck with the 4H projects.

Fortunately my kids are not into the computer too much, I on the hand need some serious Internet rehab:)
We joined our local 4-H group and ended up not going to a single meeting…….I am such a bad homeschool mom.

Not a bad homeschool Mom — that kind of stuff just happens. We made it to three meetings/events, which is the minimum required to be eligible to take a project to state level, if it gets passed on. But, here we are about 7 weeks from the county fair, and we haven’t started a darn thing.
okay, thanks Angie, now I totally want one of those Flip cameras and the waterproof case! How fun would that be?? Are you going to cave and buy yourself one?
@KimB,
It’s really hard to make myself spend that much money on something that we just absolutely don’t need. But, it would be so nice to have it for the boys’ first piano recital in just a couple of weeks.

Parenting is definitely not a popularity contest. We’ve been dealing with some of that around here, too!
(I usually multi-task when watching movies, too!)
