Quite a while ago, Eric suggested to me that I might like a cordless mouse. I’m a creature of habit and told him it wasn’t a big deal, and I preferred my wired mouse. I came around to the idea recently though, and he surprised me with a great Logitech optical wireless mouse. I love this thing! It’s just the coolest.
I want to get one for the kids’ computer now too, but I figure there will be a whole lot of this going on, “Mom? Mom! Have you seen the mouse?”

The bunnies are trying to eat my garden, one plant at a time. They have eaten on plants that I expected (like the $5 green bean plant), and things I didn’t expect (the two $17 wonderfully growing grape plants).
Bunnies – you may be cute and I know you just think that it’s food for you, but darn it — I have a lot of time and money in that garden. And, just know, this war is not over.

I don’t know if I can think of any food that seems so tied to one certain holiday/event as turkey. This week, I made a turkey that I had gotten for a really good price at Thanksgiving time. I kept giggling to myself about making turkey while the temperature was in the 90′s.
And, you know what? It wasn’t just me.
While chatting on Facebook to a friend, I told him that I was making a turkey that day. His instant reaction was to say, “For what?” I laughed as I wrote, “Dinner.” Turkey just seems like one of those things to make for an event.
Another example: My parents came over to share the turkey dinner with us. When I told my Mom that I needed to get to the store to pick up an extra something, she said we had several days left before having the turkey dinner. I reminded her that we were having it on Tuesday (it was Monday at the time). It seems no matter how many times I told her it was going to be on Tuesday, she kept thinking Thursday (shhhh…I did too). Of course, it is because Thanksgiving is always on a Thursday.

Last month, I lamented in one of my 7 Quick Takes about having to buy (and install) a toilet. Much to our displeasure, we had to call in a plumber this week, as the new toilet was leaking. Nobody said it out loud, but we all (including Eric) assumed that he had made an error in installation, even though it was fine for weeks.
Imagine our surprise when the plumber said Eric had done a perfect job. Instead, our brand new toilet was defective! Can you believe that? We took it back to Home Depot (they were very nice about it), and got a replacement. The plumber is going to install it for us on Friday. We’re pretty darn psyched to go back to being a two toilet household!

Earlier this week, I managed to almost completely clear out my email inboxes. They are now filling up again, so I need to work on it again.
My latest victory, however, is that my Google Reader is empty as of the beginning of writing this post! Because things have been so busy lately (with my Grandma’s passing, spending so much time out of town, etc.), it has been a couple of months since I was caught up.
WooHoo!

One of the projects that I have been working on in the past couple of weeks was a website for the Catholic Gadget toolbar. If you aren’t familiar with it, it’s a toolbar that you can install and it sits at the top of your computer when you have your web browser open. The focus of it is Catholic families.
I was so excited to finally get the site put together, since it’s been on my to do list for at least a month, after making a site for it popped into my head one night in bed and I had to text message the idea to my email.

Yeah, that’s what I do in the middle of the night sometime. If there is an idea I get that I just absolutely think it vital to remember, I send a text message to my email address. Then, I can sleep easier knowing I have a record of the idea.
What do you do in that situation — jot it down in some way or just hope you’ll remember it in the morning?

We are turkey eaters all year round here. I buy it everytime it goes on sale (which is not too often!) because we love a good well-rounded turkey dinner. Even when it is 90+ degrees!
My husband got me a wireless mouse and I hated it. It kept complaining to me about needing new batteries and I didn’t want to have to keep putting batteries in it or having it stop working. So I have my laser corded mouse and he has the wireless mouse. He loves it. To each their own.
I love turkey but especially sandwiches. My brother on the other hand, he can eat turkey 3 times a day for days if you let him. After Thanksgiving, he can eat most of the leftovers himself if you let him and give him enough time. It is his favorite meal of them all and would love to have a turkey cooked more than once a year.
I don’t know how to text but I do keep to-do lists and I will email myself.

So are you eating lots of turkey sandwiches?
I had wondered to myself back at Thanksgiving why we don’t cook turkeys more often. It’s so delicious. Maybe there’s a good crock pot recipe out there.
Congrats on getting a toilet back!
I’ve actually only had one turkey sandwich so far. It was only a 12 lb turkey and we had seven people eating dinner, so that made a good dent. Then, my parents took home leftovers. So far, we’ve had turkey quesadillas, fried mashed potatoes and turkey, and then turkey sandwiches. The turkey is almost all gone now! It’s nice to not have a ton of leftovers. If we have too much of one type of meat, I get tired of it before it’s gone.
I do love turkey sandwiches though.
That’s my favorite part about turkey.
I made turkey for Easter one year – it was just sooo wrong.
I have an award for you on my blog, if you’d like it
