I went to a homeschool convention this weekend for a day. (Oh man — can I just tell you that it was a really long day? It was great, but my feet were killing me afterward.)
While I was getting the spiel from one of the vendors in the expo hall, which was a rather lengthy spiel, I might add, I saw someone that I was sure that I recognized. The vendor kept talking as the woman that I was sure I knew walked through this vendor’s booth, and I was only half listening. I kept thinking, “Do I just randomly say this woman’s name and hope it’s her?”
You see — I was sure it was someone that I had never met before. I had never spoken to her in “real” life. I was sure that it was Samantha from To Be Busy at Home, as well as being one of the writers from The Homeschool Classroom. I had worked on her picture for the author page of HSC before, and she looked just like that picture. Did I dare just take a chance?
I summoned all of my courage and just finally said (after the vendor stopped talking), “Samantha?”
I will admit, I thought I was wrong because she first just looked at me like, “Who are you, lady?” Of course, she didn’t know who I was, so I can’t blame her. So, I again asked, “Samantha?”
That time, she said, “Yes…” and waited for me to reveal how in the world I knew who she was. Once I told her, I got a great big hug, and we talked for quite a while. It was such a nice talk, and was a perfect reward for going outside my comfort zone.
So, I guess you just never know who you might run into, huh? It was such fun to meet Samantha in person. If you’ve never checked out her blog, pop over and tell her hi.

What a fun story. I can’t wait to attend my very 1st homeschooling convention at the end of July!
Blessings…
That is so cool! I would love to meet some of the women that I know in the blogosphere. Which homeschooling conference did you go to?

@Erin @ Cultivating Rosebuds,
Erin — I went to the Midwest Homeschool Convention (or whatever it’s called) in Cincinnati.
Oh wow it’s such a small world! I am going to go check out her blog now!

Yes, yes! Dare to take the chance! That is so cool! What a small world. It’s funny. Now that I’m really into blogging, anytime I’m in a store and see someone who looks slightly familiar I ask myself if they could be someone I know in bloggyland. LOL

@Cheryl@SomewhatCrunchy,
I did that at a Children’s Museum before — I kept looking at some lady and thinking it was a blogger. But, I also was pretty sure it was just someone that I knew for some other reason, so I totally didn’t go up and talk to her.
I was so happy to meet you, too! Meeting you was one of the highlights of the conference for me! I feel so special that you posted about it.
Samantha
@Samantha,
Meeting you was one of the highlights of my trip too!
I’ll look forward to another chance to see you (glad that came up in conversation).
That is so funny! Isn’t that a huge convention too? We went to our local convention this past weekend too!
