That Bird Tweeted at Jack

in children, humor

While shopping at Menard’s, my boys suddenly had a “shock and awe” look about them.  They’re good boys (generally), so I didn’t think they were doing anything bad, but I finally had to ask what in the world was going on.

“Jack freed a bird,” Noah proclaimed with wide eyes.

My kids are not big animal fans, on top of the fact that birds are, well, kind of dirty, I was instantly concerned.  “What do you mean Jack freed a bird?  Where?  From what?”

I have no idea how I missed this, but they told me that they saw a bird try to fly in the store (from the outside garden center) and that it got stuck in the door.  So, apparently Jack walked close enough to make the door open back up and then bird flew away.

My favorite part of the story came then when Noah added, “Then the bird turned and looked at Jack, and tweeted at him.”

My first reaction was to burst out laughing.  (Gosh, those kids are precious!)  But, instead, I smiled and said, “I bet he really appreciated Jack saving him.”

I can only pray that my heart could be as pure and my faith as genuine as a child. I love that they both had no doubt that the bird had tweeted a little thank you.  It’s both hilarious and touching all at the same time.
