This weather is just crazy! In the seven day forecast on the local news, there is a 50 degree difference between tomorrow’s low and Wednesday’s high.  I can’t believe we were sweating wearing shorts and t-shirts a few days ago, and then are wearing jackets and shivering in the wind today.  Oh, and then all the rain and even some hail.  Crazy!

I’m so psyched!  I figured out how to link my Google Calendar to my iPod Touch (which I am now using as a PDA). And you know what?  It rocks!  I’m apparently very easily amused to put something in to my iPod and then have them show up on my computer.

You know what else rocks (on a totally different note)?

I got an email from Netflix today that we can now watch movies instantly through our Wii.  Rock on!

I’m leaving Eric and the kids behind and heading off to a big homeschool convention this weekend (just for a day).  I’m so excited, and am absolutely giddy thinking about the giant vendor area.  I have my list of things to pick up, but I know that I’ll come home with things not on that list too.

I can’t wait to share with you all about what I decided to get.  (This is what we’re using for school this year.)

Speaking of things we’ll use next year, does anyone have a really great Catholic Children’s Bible suggestion? Nothing way too kiddie, but not too advanced either.  (Something for elementary age kids.)

This week marked a turning point in my baby boy’s life.  Okay, so he’s not a baby anymore.  He’s 10.   But, still — he’s my baby.

He has, for quite sometime, aspired to an occupation of Walmart electronics associate, so that he could sell video games.  And, then this week, out of the blue, he came to me and said, “What do you think I would have to do in college to have a job making robots?”

Wow!  That’s quite a leap from selling video games.

He can’t quit reading his new book about robots (which is about more than just drawing robots), which he had checked out many times from the library and then was one of his two Easter gifts.  He declared it the best gift ever.

Speaking of old posts…

Did I ever mention that I lost a TON of the comments from my blog when it got moved over to WordPress? (Only the most recent 450 comments came with me.)  It was so sad.  Know what I plan on spending a horrible amount of time doing sometime?  Copy and paste all of the comments back in because I’m a touch OCD like that.

It’s a long story, so I won’t get into all of the details, but last Saturday evening found Jack and I taking a trip to the Emergency Room. He had been complaining about things looking fuzzy for a couple of days.  Then, while chatting with me on Saturday night, his left eye decided to move around in ways the right eye apparently had no desire to do.

Do you know that it is very possible if you call the doctor’s office with that kind of problem, they will tell you to go to the ER.  And, if you present at the ER with that kind of issue, after they do any number of eye tests, they may very well make your eight year old son go through three tests in an MRI machine (including an MRA).

If your kiddo would have to get tests like that, they would likely use words like tumor, seizure, and “don’t worry, it’s probably not anything bad, but we have to be sure.”  If you went into the MRI room with your eight year old, you would likely want to cry when you couldn’t see anything but his feet, legs, and stomach and then notice that his stomach is moving up and down so fast because he’s scared.  (And, then you might find yourself praying like a maniac.)

You also might find yourself leaving the hospital with no answers, except at least you would be able to leave the hospital (after five hours) knowing that all of the MRI tests were clear.

You know, I’m just saying.  Those kinds of things might happen.

I am so sorry to hear about the ER trauma. I almost started crying while reading that just because I have had to watch my sweet autistic son traumatized through so many procedures and tests (no one is to blame for the trauma, it’s just so hard for him to be poked and prodded). I could imagine your feelings so vividly!

I’m so glad that the tests showed nothing amiss. Is his vision getting any better?

I hope your ER wait was not very long. I recently had to take my daughter in b/c we think she may be having little seizures (absence seizures). We waited 4 hours before we were taken back and then another 3 1/2 once in our room. I pray your son is doing well. This can be scary stuff.

Oh that is scary! Glad everything’s OK. Our son had an MRI last month, too, but I think they ordered the wrong one and we’ll have to do it again. Sigh.

I’m not sure if you’ve traveled at all but not long ago one of our neighbors went to Nantucket for a summer vacation. A month later his daughter had an issue with her eye being uncontrolled. After a lot of tests it turned out to be Lyme Disease. Just something to consider.

I pray for a speedy and complete recovery.

It’s Church of England, not Catholic, but my 5-year-old and I just read My Own Book of Bible Stories from Lion Publishing and found it a very clear, joyful retelling of about 50 stories from the Old Testament and Gospels.

I hope your son is okay!!
