My kids, like many other children, like to play store or restaurant. One of their favorite things to do during this dramatic play time is to write up receipts, thanks to a manual credit card imprinter that we have.
Here is one of their check out area set ups:
Not only do they all fight over who gets to use the credit card imprinter have a great time, but they practice skills like writing, doing math, and printing or writing their names (all depending on their various skill levels).
This is a great prop to have for play stores, and it’s definitely something that all of my kids enjoy! Manual credit card imprinters and receipts are inexpensive on Ebay or you might ask someone who has had a business for a while if they have one sitting around that they don’t use anymore. This simple prop just might add hours of fun and delight to your children’s play!
On a side note: For those of you concerned about giving the wrong idea about credit cards to your kids, my kids ask each other for their debit cards for payment.

My 6yo is always "scanning" my card when she plays store or library.
I love this! I remember playing store too. When my parents got back from Hawaii, we played airplane for months with the old tickets!

Oh, how I would have LOVED that as a kid. Great idea.
Also a good life-skill because we still have to use these sometimes when the power goes out and all the new-fangled technology is unavailable!
