That's a great story! I wonder if they will be more comfortable with all sorts of pets now. Maybe the familiarity was all they needed to relax and enjoy the dog!

That was a great idea! Of course, it wouldn't have worked if you did that sort of thing all the time. I guess the trick is making bribery a very rare thing! I'm so glad for you that is worked, and that your kids now have a new little friend!

Nope, no restrictions on what they can do with it. They already get an allowance, so they are used to managing their money (or not, depending on the kiddo). We did go to Walmart right after I gave them the money, but they also each had a $25 gift certificate to use that they got while we were with family. So, they each only spent all or a portion of that.
