Create Your Own Craft Kit for an Inexpensive Gift

in WFMW,arts and crafts,gifts

Noah was recently invited to a birthday party for a girl that he used to go to school with. I kept thinking, “Hmmm…what should we give a nine year old girl?” And, quite frankly, I didn’t feel like spending a lot of money either.
Then, I remembered that this girl enjoyed crafts, as I think many girls of that age do. When I coupled that with the fact that I had been wanting to clean through some of my beads, I realized that I had a perfect combination!
My only new purchase for her gift was some elastic for bracelet making. I already had an extra bead organizer (though it would have only cost $1 – $2 to pick up another one). Then, I went through my many boxes of beads and cleared out ones that I didn’t want anymore, but that I also felt were ones that she might enjoy. I tried to pick a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors.
Sure — I had spent money on the beads before. But, since they were things that were just sitting around my house, it made a great gift for just an extra $1 for elastic cording spent. And, even better, the birthday girl really enjoyed the gift!
In the past, I have also put together a fun scrapbooking kit for someone as a gift from my own stash of new items for someone that wanted to begin scrapbooking.
What are other gifts that you can think of that can be gathered from your home?
