Selling and Buying Ads on Blogs

in blogging, finances/frugal ideas, great links

I have recently started using Project Wonderful both for selling ads on my blog, as well as for placing ads on other blogs. This site is so cool!

I ran across this site first on Kate’s blog A Simple Walk. It wasn’t long before I decided to put together a button for my Etsy shop, and I was off and running with some advertising on other people’s blogs.

Because you don’t have to commit to advertising for months at a time, you don’t have to spend a fortune to have ads on other blogs. And, you also are able to do all of your bidding and ad management through Project Wonderful, rather than needing to contact each blog owner individually. (I was even able to advertise briefly on the very popular $5 Dinners, without being out too much money for a day or so.)

So, after doing some advertising, I applied to be able to host ads. I have been hosting ads on The Homeschool Classroom for about a week or so, and just added ads onto this blog this evening!

I like that the price is advertising (both for selling and buying ads) is dependent on the market for it. I think this is a fun way to sell advertising, and it is a great way to put up my Etsy shop ads on a variety of sites! (I placed ads on non-Catholic sites, but also because I have so many Catholic specific items, I just searched for “Catholic” and was able to find a few new sites that I thought were perfect for my Etsy shop niche.)

Of course, you wouldn’t just have to advertise things like Etsy shops. It would also be great for advertising your blog, message board, or the like! (Who knows — maybe you’d want to start your advertising here at Many Little Blessings, while my advertising costs are extra low right now, since I just put up the boxes! Okay — that’s enough plugging for my blog.)

Anyway, I just thought this was a really cool website, and I’m enjoying bidding on ad space, as well as hosting it. It definitely Works for Me this week!
