Finally Painting Something Other Than The Porch (Tackle It Tuesday #25)

in arts and crafts, gifts, holidays/birthdays

One of the big things on my “to do” list prior to Thanksgiving was to make two art canvases — one each for two of my sisters. They had both said they would love them, so I set out to do some, though they didn’t know they would get them for Christmas.

Okay, so you may say? Ummm…it’s for Christmas, so why did you have to have them done by Thanksgiving?

It’s because I’m not seeing those sisters again before Christmas. They were at the family Christmas gathering that we had on Thanksgiving.

I did the first canvas (titled The Stink Eye — which was a reference to the movie Juno, as well as an homage to something that my sister Erin kept saying at our recent long weekend crop) about two weeks ago. But, as the time crunch set in, I seriously started freaking out. But, of course, when things have to get done, you just suck it up and do it.

I was thrilled then when Cooking is Like Love was finish. (My sister Kristin is a consultant for a company I really am not allowed to talk about anymore. Suffice it to say, she does enjoy cooking. And, I even snuck in a reference to Grey’s Anatomy with some “Love Me Pick Me Choose Me” paper, as well as a nod to her being in a house full of boys/men, with an old school blackboard style “I will not hit boys.”)

Sure…maybe I didn’t finish sealing the canvas until just hours before we left the house for our trip out of state. But, it was done, right?

I’ll skip out on the before pictures this week, since it would just be two white 16×20 canvases. Here are the after pictures though:
