Molly (age 4): Can you teach a monkey to drive?
Mom: Drive a car?
Molly: Yeah. Can you teach a monkey to drive a car?
Mom: Hmmm…I guess you can.
Molly (with a knowing laugh before starting up): Yeah, when I was a mommy and you were just a little girl, I taught a monkey how to drive. I told him go this way and go that way. (During that part, she was wildly moving her arms around, as if she were a drunken Indy car driver.)
Somehow I’m not expecting driving instructor to be on Molly’s future career path. Well…either that, or planet of the Apes may be closer than we think.
