Okay, I suspect I could eat if I really tried to, but I’m not a gal who tends to skip a meal, and today, I ate some breakfast, but just haven’t been up to eating lunch.
The kids have been fighting like crazy all (long) weekend. It had both Eric and I pretty darn frazzled. I couldn’t help but think that maybe Jack is missing (public) school.
And, then last night, we talked to one of our neighbors (who works as an aide at the school that they used to go to), and she told the boys that everyone missed them. I saw Jack take a jagged breath in as his lip started to quiver. “Oh,” was just about all he could get out.
We had a lot of talks about it throughout the evening and today. And, then today was our first visit back for the boys to have therapy at the school. Jack told several people about how much he wanted to go back there.
And, I’m left being not sure what to do. I don’t really have a problem with him going back. Maybe it’s too much of being all or nothing (as I tend to be), but it’s hard for me to imagine sending one back and keeping one at home. Because, as Noah tells me, “Well…yeah, I had fun at (school name), but I have equal fun here at homeschool.” He has very little desire to go back. He’s a homebody who never got too excited about going to school.
Whereas Jack has always had a love for going to school, just like I did. And, I think that’s part of what has always left a tiny pit in my stomach about homeschooling. I really loved going to school. Sure, there were junkie things that happened from time to time, but from preschool through high school (and even college), I loved going. I wouldn’t have wanted to stay home.
So, I sit here, pretty unsure of what my next move is supposed to be.
