Raised Bed Vegetable Garden with a Kiddie Swimming Pool

in gardening, going green

We are busy getting ready for our vegetable garden planting. All of the plants have been purchased, and we just have a few things to do before planting. We are actually even doing a few things in pots, as well as several things in our small, raised bed garden (it is approximately 120 sq ft).

I have to say, there is just nothing like being able to go out into the backyard and gather some of the ingredients for dinner. Or, maybe just pop a grape tomato or strawberry in your mouth while playing outside.

Even if you don’t have very much room (or maybe don’t want to dig into your yard), raised bed gardening works well. And…if you don’t even want to construct your own raised bed garden, you can use a kiddie swimming pool as a raised bed garden!

I once heard a speaker who said that she made a “pizza garden” with a kiddie pool. She broke up the sections into “slices,” and then planted things that she and her grandchildren could use to make pizza. How cool is that!

Angie, Thanks for the kiddie pool garden ideas I’m a 50 something Catholic Mom in California, with two teens still at home..I’m starting my first container garden after years of ground gardens..Now I know how to start..I especially like the fact that with the pools, I can lay it out first and re-arange it if needed before planting..
God Bless, Kerry
