1. I can go on all of the field trips, and can take Molly (age three) right along with us! I feel so bad that I miss so many field trips now just because I can’t make arrangements for Molly.
2. No more mountains of homework after the boys have already been in school all day.
3. More flexibilty!
4. If the kids are sick for a few days in a row with a simple cold/flu, I don’t have to take them to the doctor just to get an excuse for the school.
5. We can spend more time on the topics that interest the boys.
6. A little distance from some of the bad influences in school.
7. We will actually be able to talk about God during the school day!
8. A couple of chores each day around the house can be part of our school day.
9. The kids will be able to take things like beginning Spanish, music (with a recorder), and drama in the new Catholic homeschool co-op that will be starting next year!
10. They will learn “home ec” type lessons earlier in their lives and in a very practical setting. They are desperately looking forward to being allowed to plan and cook one dinner per week, as I promised them they could do.
11. I can give them the individualized attention that they have been needing more of.
12. Every single day, I finally be using the bachelors and masters degrees that I worked so hard to earn. (Okay — I really feel I could do homeschooling without the degrees and the two teaching licenses that I currently have, but it’s nice to feel like I’m using them.) And, heck — since my masters is in special education, it’s like my boys will have their very own personalized resource room, if they need it!
13. I’ll get a little more time to watch up close as they grow into young men.
