Lincoln was a blinkin’

in family, humor

Noah was so excited to bring home a book today from school about what life would be like if you lived at the time of Abraham Lincoln.

Well…except it kept calling him Abe Lincoln.

We read through about half of it tonight, and plan to read through the rest tomorrow. Surprisingly, all three of the kids sat around to listen to the approximately one page answers to whether they would have gone to school if they were kids when “Abe” Lincoln was, what kinds of foods they would have eaten, and what kinds of games they may have played with friends.

They were just eating this story up, so that was fun.

After we put it away, Molly said, “We’ll read it again tomorrow!”

Then, she made up a song about the book, and I realized that the story was a little over her three year old awareness.

“A blinkin’, a blinkin’, a blinkin’,” she sang.

Apparently Abe Lincoln sounds a whole lot like something country folk might be apt to do if they got a little dust in their eye.
