How to be a more holy family?

in church/faith, family

Today is the Feast of the Holy Family, and it’s an important day to focus not only on the Holy Family, but also on what things we can do to be a more holy family.

One thing that Eric and I discussed last night was to add daily family prayer to our routine — maybe shortly before bed time, just so we’re sure that both he and I are home. We had previously wanted to do that, but let it fall by the wayside. Bad, I know. And, so we’re going to be a little more intent on doing that this year. I think that I’ll even add it to my Motivated Moms planner as a daily item — maybe that will help.
As Fr. Dan focused on in his homily last night, part of the thing about being a more holy family is setting a good example for your children. (He was talking about going to Mass weekly — which we already do, of course. And, then he was also talking about making sure that you are actually participating in the Mass, and not just sitting/standing silently during prayers, etc.)

So, while I’m not big on making new years resolutions, I can safely say that I am resolving to have more time for family prayer, and to try to be a good faith role model for my kids.
