It all started with an innocent comment. Many weeks ago, I told Jack’s kindergarten teacher that he really wanted to make heart-shaped cupcakes for his class. Mrs. Teacher said, “You know, I have always wanted to have a Mother’s Day Tea Party — maybe we could do that this year!” And…away it went! Mind you, I had to take her comments to heart because I foolishly thought at the beginning of the year, “Wouldn’t it be fun to sign up to be the room mother for Jack’s class?”(since nobody else had signed up yet). I will not foolishly have those thoughts again.
So,
Bud’s Mom went to town in figuring out a menu, and I did up a paper asking for volunteers to make things (or donations), as well as invitations. Bud’s Mom’s menu may have driven some people not to volunteer, but it was nice anyway. We finally did get a few people to volunteer, and we got a whopping $8.00 in donations (just enough for the very small veggie tray I picked up). We had cucumber sandwiches (thanks to Bud’s Mom — they were delish!!!), and then from other Moms: a spinach salad, a fruit tray, and a lemonade punch. Bud’s Mom also brought napkins and plates. I brought the veggie tray (with donations), cups, Arizona iced tea (it was a “Tea” afterall, though I don’t drink tea), and then about 50 heart shaped cupcakes!
Yes, I am perfectly aware that most arts and crafts I do turn out looking like an eight year old did them. So, here are my amazingly gorgeously kind-of-okay passably decorated cupcakes. At least Jack was thrilled and the kids in class thought they were amazing.
