WFMW: Creating a Family Budget

in finances/frugal ideas

Okay…so here is my very first time participating in Works for Me Wednesday.

I just have to share this budgetting tip for those of you out there that enjoy the computer as much as I do. I have tried budgetting before with a variety of methods, but knew using the computer would work best for me.

So, then I read somewhere that I could download a budget form from Microsoft. So…

1. Open Microsoft Excel (if you don’t have Excel, I’m sure there must be other resources out there with something similar)

2. Along the right side, there is a search box. Just search for “budget.”

3. Find the budget that comes up that works best for you and download it! There are a variety — everything from family budget to garden budget to wedding budget.

I downloaded the family budget and have done some tweaking on it. It seems to be working out well so far, and I like that I am finally tracking where our money is going better than I was before.

Good idea. Something I never knew was there.

Another resource is the budget calculator from Crown Financial Ministries. You put in your gross income, your tax and your tithe, and it will estimate how much money you should be spending on various monthly line items.

I had absolutely no idea that I had that capability on my computer. That is really neat! I will definitely need to play around with this. Thanks for sharing. :)

I forgot our computer had this, too! Thanks.

We’ve been really working on our finances thanks to the Dave Ramsey books. I highly suggest his books if you’re not familiar. :)
