Tasty Tuesday

in food,recipes

I love this recipe! Know why that is? It is not only delicious, but it makes me feel like a grown up. Until I tried this recipe earlier this month, I had only ever made brownies from a box mix. I had no idea that it was just about as easy to make brownies from scratch, and they are SO much tastier!

Thanks to my Mom for this recipe!

Oh, and this recipe does come with a warning! Beware: Talking while trying to eat these brownies can cause you to accidentally inhale powdered sugar. This can cause a mad, crazy coughing fit. If you choose to talk and eat these at the same time, please just remember that you were warned!

“Deep Dish” Brownies

3/4 cup butter, melted

3/4 cup unsifted all purpose flour
1 and 1/2 cups sugar
1/2 cup Hershey cocoa
1 and 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3 eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt

Blend melted butter, sugar and vanilla in a mixing bowl. Add eggs; beat well. Combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl and blend well with a spoon. Gradually add this to the egg mixture until well blended. Spread in greased 13×9 pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 21-25 minutes or until brownie begins to pull away from edges of pan. Cool and and then sprinkle top with powdered sugar (optional). Then, cut brownies into squares.

( * Deep dish brownies use 8×8 pan and bake 40 to 45 minutes. )
