The other day, when telling my Mom about our Holy Week plans in RCIA, I mentioned that on Wednesday we would be setting up for tomorrow’s simple supper and cleaning the church. I suspect she either wasn’t paying attention when I said that or she thought I was throwing in a funny joke.
Today, I asked my Mom if she had a bucket I could borrow. When she asked why, I reminded her that we would be cleaning the church tonight. She was surprised that we really were cleaning the church. Ha!
Anyway, it was a lot of fun, although my back will probably be sore tomorrow. In a little over an hour, I used Murphy’s Oil Soap (and water) and washed about 1/8 of the pews in the church. It was SO neat to see all the many hands busy at work making our church look so clean (and smell clean too!). My only regret was that I had forgotten to bring along my camera!
One piece of bad news is that one of the women going through RCIA (who will be both baptized and confirmed on Saturday) wasn’t there because her five year old son is in the hospital with possible meningitis. As it stands now, she is unsure if she will be able to be there on Saturday with us all. So, if anyone reading this has an extra prayer for Nicole and her family, I would appreciate it!

thanks for visiting my blog today!
Isn’t great when a group of women get together to work in the Lord’s house! You get alot done, you have good company and you come home tired but yet somehow spiritually rested! Enjoyed your blog!

Meningitis: very scary. My sister-in-law had it shortly after she married my brother and its effects still cause problems.
Extra prayers…

what a fun idea to have you clean the church for easter… we were on the cleaning rotation when i was little, and i believe that nothing ever made me love our physical church building like going in on when it was all empty and getting it ready for other people.
you’ve been on my mind all week – happy holy thursday!!
