So, I was reading on Ali Edwards’ blog (she is big in the scrapbooking world, for those that don’t know her). She talked about picking one word that would be your word to live by for year. Here is her posting on this topic. I was really intrigued by this idea, and I set out to find my word for 2007.
I knew in my mind what the idea was that I wanted to go with, but I wasn’t really sure what my word was. Finally, I went with SIMPLIFY. There a whole lot of things I need to simplify in my life. I need to simplify my schedule, especially to allow myself special time with the kids, a particular time to clean the house (and not just when I am expecting company), some time to just sit down and relax every so often, and some more time to pray or spend time with God. I need to simplify my desires — I need to be happier with what I have, and spend less time and money trying to get things that I don’t have. This would also allow me to simplify my bill paying. I also seriously need to simplify my eating, although I think this will mean more work for me, so it doesn’t really feel like simplifying, but my intention is to eat better foods, and somehow this seems like a more simple way to eat.
2007 is brand new. It’s a chance to try to refocus your energy. So…what’s your word?
